Research Training Group 2155 - ProMoAge
We are seeking a candidate for the RTG 2155 PhD programme "ProMoAge: Protein Modifications - A key mechanism to ageing" to work on the relation of oxidative protein modification and ageing and disease. Students will be part of the Research Training Group, organized by the Universities of Halle and Jena, and thus will receive intensive training on protein modification and molecular mechanisms of ageing. In this specific reserach project, we plan to devise molecular methods to visualize protein modification in living cells. In addition, we aim at studying the impact of oxidative protein modification on ion channel function.
Your qualifications: You hold a Master's degree in Biochemistry or related fields and are highly motivated to perform research for a PhD project in an international environment.
Project duration: 3 years; start approximately September 2019.

Heme Regulation
Research Training Group 1715 - Adaptive Stress Responses (sponsored by JSMM, Carl Zeiss Foundation)
We are seeking a candidate for the RTG 1715 PhD programme "Molecular Signatures of Adaptive Stress Responses" to work on the regulation of cell functions by intracellular heme. Students will be part of the Research Training Group, organized by the Friedrich Schiller University Jena, and thus will receive intensive training on various aspects of biochemistry, cell biology and molecular medicine. In this specific reserach project, we plan to devise molecular methods to visualize the concentration of labile heme in living cells. In addition, we aim at studying the crosstalk of heme-dependent gene transcription with ROS and Ca2+ signaling. You will use methods of modern molecular cell biology, biochemistry, and molecular medicine.
Your qualifications: You hold a Master's degree in Biochemistry or related fields and are highly motivated to perform research for a PhD project in an international environment.
